Do you remember last August when Worcester came alive to the sights and sounds of marching bands, street entertainers and jazz? Maybe you saw a show, wandered around the arts markets, sampled ales at the beer festival or enjoyed the music at one of the music festival events. The Worcester Festival is gearing up for another stunning line up of events this year from the 14th to 30th August and has set up an open meeting at the Swan Theatre at 7.30pm on Monday 1st February for anyone interested in holding an event, large or small. Anyone is welcome to attend, and it’s a great opportunity for potential participants to meet the organisers, find out what support is available from the organisers of the festival, and chat to other participants about their plans and experiences. You can get some ideas on what kind of event you could run, and how to market it to the public. If you run a venue and fancy hosting evening’s entertainment, or would like to organise a talk, walk or concert then come along and find out how you can be part of the Worcester Festival. Last year’s Worcester Festival attracted over 300 events from large scale professional concerts at Huntingdon Hall, The Swan Theatre and The Cathedral to smaller local events aimed at communities, children, fundraising and simply having fun! Director of the Worcester Festival Chris Jaeger commented, “The Worcester Festival becomes more and more successful every year, as more people become part of it and join in – either by hosting an event or just getting out and about in August to enjoy an event. The main thing to remember is that the Worcester Festival is a festival for the people of Worcester hosted by the people of Worcester, so this meeting is for people to come along and find out how to be part of it! “ To download a Festival information pack visit www.worcesterfestival.co.uk or ring 01905 726969, or otherwise simply turn up at the Swan Theatre on 1st February at 7.30pm. -ends-
