Mark Jackson will explain and compare his first and last tours of operational duty in Northern Ireland which started in 1972 in with Londonderry very shortly after Bloody Sunday to the outbreak of peace in South Armagh in 1994 giving an insight into how the Province changed and how military tactics and operartions countering the IRA developed based on more than 4 years operational duty in Northern Ireland.

Lieutenant Colonel Mark Jackson OBE was commissioned into the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment in 1971, the third generation of his family in the Regiment. His career spanned the Cold War with tours in West Germany, Northern Ireland, UN duties, West Berlin as well as tours in a NATO headquarters in the Netherlands and the USA.. He left the Army in 2006 and was Chief Executive of St Richard's Hospice for 11 years. He is Chairman of Trustees of the Mercian Regiment Musuem (Worcestershire).
